Bamboo that bends and never breaks, in 108 black segments.
Every bead is carved as stacked bamboo segments, raised nodes and all, in deep matte Black Sandalwood (黑檀, hei tan). Bamboo bends in the storm without breaking, and in Chinese tradition that resilience makes it the wood of the gentleman-scholar: integrity, flexibility, and quiet strength.
Meaning: Integrity, resilience, and longevity: the three virtues of the Chinese gentleman-scholar, strung as one continuous cane.
Scent: Faint plain-wood warmth at most. Honest note: Black Sandalwood is an ebony-family wood and does NOT carry true sandalwood's scent.
Feel: Dense and matte, cool-toned for a wood. The carved bamboo nodes give a rhythmic ridged texture under your thumb.
Care: Wood. No soaking. Dry or barely-damp cloth. Store in a pouch.
