Ten large carved pendants, each its own one-of-one: dragon-fish discs, lotus blooms, a cicada, zodiac animals, Guanyin herself. The glaze sits in the celadon family (青瓷, qing ci), that pale blue-green the Song dynasty turned into a national mood. Each hangs from a knotted silk cord with a long tassel in a matching tone.
Meaning: The motifs are the classic Chinese set: the dragon-fish disc for strength in transition, the lotus for purity rising out of mud, the cicada for rebirth and clean conscience, the zodiac animals for the year of your birth, Guanyin for compassion. Scent: Fired clay and silk. Clean, dry, faintly of the kiln it never forgot.
Feel: Cool ceramic with a glass-smooth glaze, surprisingly light for its size. The silk tassel is the soft counterweight: brush it and it swings.
