Xiaoyeh Zitan (小叶紫檀, xiao ye zitan), the Indian small-leaf purple sandalwood whose heartwood darkens with age, accented with lapis lazuli, golden amber, and white rounds. The teardrop pendant is carved with a classic Chinese merchant's ship under sail with a branch of plum blossom (梅花, mei hua) in the foreground.
Meaning: The ship carries the wish of smooth sailing (帆风顺 yi fan feng shun) and the wealth that arrives with it. The plum blossom, first to bloom in late-winter cold, stands for resilient hope. Zitan and lapis add subtle status and wisdom.
Scent: Zitan gives a faint sweet-woody scent when warm, a reason it is prized among Chinese timbers.
